Sizing & Engraving Tips
check your medical id bracelet size
The proper bracelet size can be found by measuring your wrist at the smallest part. Please add 1” to this number. For example, if your snug measurement is 6”, your bracelet size is 7”.
Not sure what to engrave on your medical tag?
Your medical id tag will speak for you when you are unable to communicate. Determine what information emergency technicians and hospital workers would need to know. Suggestions include:
- medical condition
- medication being taken
- medication needed
- date of birth
- emergency contacts
- physician contact number
There isn't a lot of room on the medical identification tags- engrave the most necessary information.
Some other things to consider:
Be sure to distinguish between the medications you are allergic to and medications you are taking. For example, “Allergic to Penicillin” is much more descriptive than saying, “Penicillin”.
Engraving less text on a tag will result in larger (and more legible) letters.
ICE stands for “In Case of Emergency”. Often we see customers engrave ICE followed by a phone number. (“ICE: 555 555.1212”)
There is no need to include parenthesis on area codes.
If you are engraving for lymphedema or lymphedema risk, please indicate which arm or leg is at risk.
We advise against engraving Social Security numbers on your tag.
If you have a long list of medications, you could keep them listed on a wallet card and engrave “See Wallet Card”.
Consider engraving the most important information on the back of the medical bracelet tag. If the front becomes scratched, the back will still be legible. The back of the tag is more protected by your wrist.
Unfortunately, I am unable to engrave any DNR information on your jewelry. There are a bunch of complicated laws about DNR and I stay away from that mess.
Check your custom engraving order before and after your place it! Custom engraved items are non-refundable, Fiddledee ID's is not liable for mispelled words.
Real World Example:
Using the above criteria, my own medical id tag reads as follows:
|BACK:||JENNA L POWERS||BACK:|
|PEANUT ALLERGY||TYPE 1 DIABETES||EPILEPSY|
|CALL 911||PCN & LATEX||GRAVES DISEASE|
